For this, week the initiative is in … France!
The former minister of the Environment, Corinne Lepage launched on September 25, an association for victims of pesticides: Justice Pesticides. The avocate created an website to provide scientific and legal information for possible procedures.
For she, « the only effective response today is (…) the networking of all present and future victims of pesticides, whether they be farmers, neighbors of dissemination, places, local authorities, researchers or others still ».
This mutualisation aims to « establish an international legal and scientific base that will strengthen the legal actions ».
The objective is to consolidate all decisions in the world about pesticides and references on scientific studies. The searches on the site will be done by keywords, by country of jurisdiction, the products concerned, type of complainants or date of the decision.
Some actors who are on trial against Monsanto are participating in the initiative :
MEP Michèle Rivasi (EELV)
The journalist Marie-Monique Robin, The spokesperson of the NGO Generations Futures François Veillerette, cereal producer Paul François
Several foreign activists, scientists or lawyers.
